歌詞の世界もようやくDisc 2に突入しました。
そのオープニングがMach Zero。6枚目のオープニングを飾る、疾走感あり、かつドラマチックな名曲ですね。
さてこのタイトル、英語読みだとマークゼロですが、Machは日本語で言うところの「マッハ」です。マッハGoGoGoとかにも出てきますね（古すぎ(笑)）。もともとはオーストリアの学者の名前に由来します。
マッハ１が音速（地上で気温が15度くらいならば約340m/s）ですから、とてつもなく速い、のですが、マッハ0だとするとそれは止まっています。それは何か、というと歌詞を読むとどうも「私たちのいるこの地球」のことを表しているようですね。
地球は公転も自転もしています。分かりやすいのは自転ですね。一日一周、その速さは緯度によって異なりますが、東京（北緯約36度）だと約32,000キロ／日、約374m/sということで、マッハ１よりちょい速い、ということになります。
公転になるとこれがもっと速くて、マッハ87くらい（！）だそうです（宇宙空間は音が伝わらないので、本当はマッハという定義が成り立たないのですけど、まあそこはイメージということで）。
歌詞の中で「廻っている」という表現があるので、おそらく自転か公転か、のイメージでしょうね。いずれにせよ、ものすごい速さです。
ちなみに、さらに言うと太陽系も動いてまして、しかもとてつもなく速い！ま、そのあたりを言い出すときりがないので、その辺にしておきましょう(笑)。
その地球をあえてMach Zeroと表現したこの歌。動いているけど動いていない、その奇蹟の世界で生きていること自体が奇蹟なんだから……あとは歌詞を味わっていただければと思います。
